If you are generating any tables this is a bad idea as your table borders and such are printed characters and changing to a proportional font will mean that borders, horizontal lines and numeric columns do not align. Also the characters shown for the borders will change.
Have you saved tried opening an LST file in Word or other word processor and changed the font to see what your output looks like?
If you really want Tahoma I would such using ODS RTF or ODS TAGSETS.RTF and either choosing a style that includes Tahoma or modifying a style to use that font.

.lst is a simple text file with only CRLF and Newpage characters for formatting, no other formatting information present.
It does not have a character font at all.
Open with the text processor of your choice, assign a font and then save as a document file.
