Debugging of SAS Program in University Edition

Hi All,

 How to debug SAS program step by step or with break points in University Edition ?

 Also, I would like to see the data vector contents after each line of SAS program executes.  Please suggest !!!

Hi

You can simple mark a step in the editor and run this step using F3. Then you can check the log and the resulting output tables etc.

There is no debugger to allows you to run a DATA Step statement by statement. However it is very easy to write information to the SAS log using the PUTLOG statement. See also sample code below.

data newClass;
  set sashelp.class;
  putlog "INFO: PDV after read of observation";
  putlog _all_;

  if sex = "M" then do;
    age = age * 2;
  end;
  putlog "INFO: some vars after IF";
  putlog name= sex= age=;
run;
