Unicode concepts

Hi,

I have a template that uses the unicode 1F811B (heavy down arrow) outside a rectangle that gets drawn.  It is part of the Symbola font and I have to specify that for it to show up.  Example:

 drawtext textattrs = (size = 10pt family = "Symbola" color = &dkblue. ) {unicode '1F81B'x} / ...;

The problem with this approach is when going to a PDF file, this font must be present on the viewing machine in order for the PDF file to render properly.  This isn't a universal font like Arial, so this will be a problem.

Is there a workaround to getting the down arrow to appear?

This is being generated in Win 64 9.4 TS1M3.

Thanks!

Re: Unicode concepts

I recommend looking for your symbol in Arial Unicode MS http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/font/arial_unicode_ms/blockview.htm?block=arrows or in some other font like a Unicode. This site has an interesting breakdown of different arrow symbols http://xahlee.info/comp/unicode_arrows.html

Re: Unicode concepts

Hi Cynthia

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Those sites will indeed do. The Arial down arrow is hex 2193 and looks fine on the graph.

Much appreciated!

Ben
