How do you prevent these from forming while running reports? What causes it when sending output to the ODS RTF destination?

Maybe:

Tools --> Options --> Preferences --> Results tab --> deselect the "Create HTML" option

Unfortunately, I have that option deactivated.

One more guess:

ods html close;

I think that is working...Smiley Happy

I tried it before but I had it buried in the code instead of at the top.

Hi: Usually those orphan sashtml files happen because someplace in your code you either had

ODS HTML; (thus forcing SAS and ODS to make up a SASHTML.HTM file to hold results) but then you never had an ODS HTML CLOSE; or, you forgot to change the Tools--> Options --> Preferences --> Results choices to "turn off" automatic HTML file creation.

I find it useful to put explicit ODS HTML statements in my code. But everybody works differently. Some people really like the automatic HTML file and the automatically named file.

This user group paper might clarify some different ways of working:

  (Note that it was written originally for the transition difference in output results from 9.2 to 9.3 versions.)
