Re: Creating a new document store interactively

Hi:

The way to open an ODS document window in order to have an interactive session with ODS DOCUMENT stores and make a new document store is to issue the ODSDOC command from a Display Manager command line.

There is no way to start an interactive window in SAS EG because there is no command line (there is no "Display Manager"). When you submit an EG task, like a LIST DATA task or a SUMMARY TABLES task, the code is submitted in batch mode to SAS on the server, no matter where the server is located. The SAS session that EG is communicating with doesn't have a monitor or window that you can "pop" open interactively.

When you are using EG, you will have to use PROC DOCUMENT batch syntax to build your new ODS DOCUMENT. As you can see from the documentation on when to use the DOCUMENTS window, all of the interactive screenshots show the use of SAS Display Manager (or the SAS windowing environment).

http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/odsug/62755/HTML/default/viewer.htm#p1egirfxbfgtvon1a0ok...

You can submit PROC DOCUMENT code in an EG code node window to create an ODS DOCUMENT store on your SAS server. And there is also PROC DOCUMENT syntax to do the rearrange and replay of the output objects.
