I use the code:

proc sort nodupkey nodup data=finaldata out=unique; by study_id; run; *get count of people in the dataset=153 there are 6 duplicates.

When I do a proc means it still shows the 6 duplicates. there are a lot of variables in my data set and I want to delete certain study_id duplicates.

proc means data=finaldata;
var v_ht_0;
by intervention;
run;

You should run your PROC MEANS code on unique (the output data from PROC SORT). Not finaldata
