Hello -
Since SAS Viya 4.x and SAS Grid 9.4 M7 both have similar attributes such as scalability, HA, cloud deployable, Parallelism (SAS Viya - Data & SAS Grid - Task) etc.,

How does an organization that's new to SAS choose between SAS Viya or Grid?

If the organization is having an existing SAS 9.4 M7 or 9.4Mx grid, what are the advantages of moving them to SAS Viya 4.x?
Thanks in advance!

I think you need to build use cases. What are your requirements (today and tomorrow).

What are your constraints?

EA strategies?

I think eventually you need to move to Viya, because 9.4 will become EOL at some point (years from now, but still).

Data never sleeps

SAS 9.4 is now in maintenance mode with an increasing gap between maintenance releases. All currently available 9.4 releases switch to limited support in 2025. 9.4M8 due out in Feb 2023 will extend full support to 2028.

IMHO, customers new to SAS should be looking solely at SAS Viya 4 as this is where all significant development is now occuring.
