Change to 64 bit MS Office?

I have 64 bit SAS 9.3 TS1M2 and 32 bit Office 2010 installed on a Windows 2008 R2 vm. Users log in through rdp and work with data on the server, so all processing is done on the same server. Sas jobs are running reasonably fast, but any interaction with Excel is really slow. Is there anything I can do to optimize the PC Files server module? If not, should I remove 32 bit office and install 64 bit office and remove PC Files (assuming that it's possible to make sas recognize the new office install)?

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

Tim
