track logs on SAS servers during execution

Hi,

Is there any way that we would be able to check the SAS log from server, during execution, also without interrupting execution.

Please let know if we can do it any way.

Regards,

Moovendhan D

Re: track logs on SAS servers during execution

I think you may need to say more.  For example, what OS are you on?  And are you familiar with the OS tools?

We have a SAS server running on linux.  I haven't had any problems reading log files that were active, even with a simple MORE or TAIL.

On windows with PC SAS batch jobs, I use Ultraedit to read log files, it can read active logs fine.  I think it probably depends on the application, and what sort of file lock it tries to get.

But yes, it should be possible to read log files as they are being written to.
