Hi all,

I'm creating a new variable and not quite sure how to tackle it.

Essentially, this is what I want to do:

Data new_dataset;

Set old_dataset;

If confine_date between start_date and end_date then match = 'yes' else match = 'no';

Run;

The problem is that the dates aren't fixed. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You mixed up IF and WHERE statement.

If start_date <= confine_date  <= end_date then match = 'yes' else match = 'no';

place a semicolon before else in Xia code

If start_date <= confine_date  <= end_date then match = 'yes';

else match = 'no';
