Use XLS engine to read data

libname readit 'C:\Users\Desktop\data\wages.xls';

proc print data=readit.'permanent$'n;run;

Hi guys,

I'm trying to read the .xls file directly, however the log appears errors which I don't know why because I'm following the book instructions to do it.

libname readit 'C:\Users\rui_ji\Desktop\course_data\wages.xls

ERROR: Connect: Class not registered

ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

proc print data=readit.'permanent$'n;run;

ERROR: Libname READIT is not assigned.

Re: Use XLS engine to read data

This is usually an issue when the your SAS and Excel versions are not the same "bitness".  32 vs 64.

Re: Use XLS engine to read data

The ue University Edition is a learning type running under Linux in a virtual machine on your desktop/laptop. Very  confusing as you are seeing Windows but has to deal with Unix. The excel libname does not work with that.

On a windows Sas version you need the same bitness of office and the acces pcfiles license.
