I have 64 bit SAS 9.3 TS1M2 and all hot fixes installed on a fully updated Windows 2008 R2 server. Sas takes 20-30 seconds to open, but the Sas log shows real time and cpu time under 2 seconds. Any idea what might be causing this?

I'm the server admin, so I can apply changes to Sas or the OS. Thanks.

What kind of SAS sessions are we talking about (DMS, Workspace Server, Connect server sessions)?

Is the server "physical" or virtual?

Is SAS installed on a local disk (if not where, and on what kind of filesystem)?

What is the server acitivy during a SAS session start (Memeory, CPU, I/O)? Perhaps using perfomon can give you some hints.

The global SAS option FULLSTIMER might also give some hints.

2 seconds is still quite slow, what is the server spec?
