I get the following error message when I try to run a program on SAS EG 5.1:
"Critical error loading host supervisor" and "Name Repository Init Failure".
A connection to the Local server could not be established.
The OS is Win 8.1. ( SAS v9.3).

I get the same error all of a sudden.
No other changes in my system (Windows 7, Sas 9.3, EG 5.1).
It's not related to Windows 8 and it's not related to a new installation.

With eg 5.1 and sas 9.3 on w7 I have seen this type of errors being intermittent.Using sas base foundation and than eguide again did something as bypass
I remember this is a known error and a fix was available. 50262 - The error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 5...
Last fix eguide/base is applied?
As previous said always open your connection first to validate you have no OS related issues.
- think on a password expiration
- could also be some OS security failure or just running out of space on a filesystem of Inodes or... (server)
- lock on local used data / corruption on some registry of config file settings,
When nothing helps and it is corrupted Eguide profile. You can delete that one as it must be recreated.

I am also getting the above message.
I have been running SAS 9.3 on Windows 7 machine for about 6 months or so. I do not use Enterprise.
I tried to uninstall SAS but the Deployment manager cannot complete the task.

The deployment manager does the install /de-install. It is not a standard Windows approach but programmed in Java.
There are SAS notes about that one. Using the java version supplied with the installation and not the default of the system could be a bypass.
Check with TS.

I tried to uninstall using the deployment as well as the windows add / remove programs. the windows approach simply links to the deployment manager.
Either way, it cannot complete the task.
What is "TS" ?

With an official license you are registered and have the right on support. Technical Support (TS) is your contact for that.
