I have SAS 9.4 installed on my PC.
Prior to 9.4 I had 9.1 and the SAS viewer both installed.
Without the viewer installed, when I double-click on a SAS dataset in Windows the file opens within SAS itself - which is slow and cumbersome.
Can I install the viewer and have it cooperate with SAS 9.4? Isn't the viewer old 32-bit software? Is there a 64-bit version of the viewer?
Anybody have a link?

Since it's "free" SW, it should/could be a part of your SAS software order, and then a part of your SAS depot. Check with the SAS representative at your site.
On download at support.sas.com, a 9.3 version is available (32 & 64 bit) versions. As standalone they should work on 9.4 SAS stuff, but can't guarantee how this will work regarding registry entries etc.

When I went to install the 64-bit viewer from your link above, the software first wanted to run the 9.3 deployment wizard.
That's when I decided to cancel since I have 9.4 successfully installed.
Should I go ahead anyway?

OK, so I finally found out that the viewer comes bundled with the 9.4 disks. Our IT people decided not to install it
So I've finally got it installed.
Now I can't figure out how to get it to start in maximised window size!
The old instructions refer to some registry setting which don't appear to exist anymore:

Try using the old SAS System Viewer instead. Only problem I have had is that it will not read version 9 files generated by 64 Unix SAS. I have not tried it on SAS 9.4 generated datasets.

Don't think it works with 9.4 datasets:
Is anyone else experiencing really slow performance from the Universal Viewer?
