Has anyone set up SSO to restrict what an employee can see on a Portal?

For example, a director can see all information and all employees that role up to him based on territories. A manager the same but can’t see the director level above his information, down to the individual contributor who would only be able to see their own information.

I haven't done it but it is definitely possible using SAS's row-level security functionality:

With SSO and SAS each user has an identity in SAS metadata which can be used to applied to restrict data access.
