SAS Connect To Oracle Queries Taking 30 Seconds Longer Than Before (SAS 9.3 | AIX 7.1 Env)

Hello,

Recently a 30 second delay has been added to any oracle query run via the SAS client. Even the most simple query against an oracle database now takes at least 30 seconds. This only occurs when using SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Display Manager, for example a simple query run through a client like Oracle SQL Developer returns results almost instantly.

The query below outputs  PROCEURE SQL used (Total process time) real time 30.52 seconds cpu time 0.05 seconds

options metaserver="sasmetaserver"

metaport=8561

metarepository=Foundation

metauser="SASConnectUser@saspw"

metapass="{SAS002}XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX";

signon server="SASApp - Connect Server";

options sastrace='d,,d,sa' sastraceloc=saslog nostsuffix;

options fullstimer;

rsubmit;

proc sql;

   connect to oracle(user=jbloggs

                     password=XXXXXXX

                     path=orapath);

   create table test as

          select * from connection to oracle

          (select * from CARS WHERE COLOR LIKE '%Blue%');

quit;

endrsubmit;

Any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue? We  are running SAS 9.3 on separate SASApp & SASMeta AIX 7.1 servers, on Windows 7 & 8.1 Enterprise (64 bit) machines with the 32bit SAS clients installed.

Thanks

Stuart

Re: SAS Connect To Oracle Queries Taking 30 Seconds Longer Than Before (SAS 9.3 | AIX 7.1 Env)

This was resolved by editing the oracle client configuration files on the SASApp server. The ldap.ora file contained a non-existent LDAP server within the DIRECTORY_SERVERS variable. The names.directory_path variable in the sqlnet.ora was also edited as follows:

From

names.directory_path= (ldap, onames, tnsnames, hostname)

To

names.directory_path= (tnsnames, hostname)
