SAS Certification Prep Guide - SAS 9 - Third Edition - Dataset

Hi Everyone,

I am entirely new to SAS programming.  I bought the SAS Certification Prep Guide - SAS 9 - Third Edition book and discovered that datasets are missing.

I came across the following url which has the datasets for the book:

http://support.sas.com/publishing/cert/sampdata.txt

I am running the latest copy of SAS University Edition.   I pasted the following code show below into SAS Studio and these are the error messages I got:

Any help appreciated.  Thank you.

Partial error messages:

Re: SAS Certification Prep Guide - SAS 9 - Third Edition - Dataset

The code is creating the files for you to use in the certification guide.

However, the University Edition doesn't allow OS access so some of the initial code won't run. I'd map my own drive (check the FAQ) or multiple questions on here regarding that then proceed to the portion of the code that creates the data sets. If you have a copy of the book the files are on the CD and you can just copy them to where they're needed as well.

Re: SAS Certification Prep Guide - SAS 9 - Third Edition - Dataset

Thanks Reeza.   The book does not come with the CD , just the link to the datasets.

If the University Edition does not allow OS access which version should I use ?   If it is SAS 9.2  or 9.3 I can't find the downloads.

How do I map the drive, I am totally new to SAS and can't find any information.

Re: SAS Certification Prep Guide - SAS 9 - Third Edition - Dataset

Hi, Paul:

If you send email to training@sas.com, you can request the program to create the datasets for the Prep Guide. The program will work with the SAS University Edition. At the time the Prep Guide was written, access to the SASUSER library was usually available. That is not true for the SAS University Edition and there is a new version of the programs that is going to be released. The program that you can download from the Bookstore web site will work in a "local" installation of SAS, where you do have write access to the SASUSER library.

Se this previous posting for more details. https://communities.sas.com/message/228162

Hi Cynthia,

Thank you for your reply. Thank God, I thought no one was going to reply me.     I will definitely send an email to training.
