Hi

I am getting an error message when running the following code:

PROC DATASETS LIBRARY = LIB NOLIST;

   APPEND BASE = LIB.HISTRCL_DATA

    DATA =LIB.NEW_DATA;

RUN;

Here is the error message

ERROR: File  LIB.HISTRCL_DATA cannot be updated because its encoding does not

       match the session encoding or the file is in a format native to another host, such as

       WINDOWS_32.

Thanks

Encoding is a big subject! Here is a link to a SAS paper that discusses internationalization, which is where encoding comes in.

The paper should give you the information you need to solve your problem.

Good luck!

Tom
