Need help with modifying a boxplot overlay's colors and symbols

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me. I have recently learned how to create a box and whisker plot using the PROC BOXPLOT function and need to overlay a mean score onto it graphically. I had a suggestion to overlay the mean score I wanted (which was successful). My problem is that I want to remove the lines between my overlay points, change the color and symbol as well. I looked it up and added a a SYMBOL line to change the defaults before I ran the overlay script but there were no changes. I also tried to change the appearance using the COVERLAY, OVERLAYSYM, and CCOVERLAY (none) to remove the line in between the points, but when I run it with the changes there is no difference. Any suggestions? Below is the syntax I used:

symbol2 v=dot c=black;

     proc boxplot data=test;

     plot FSPI*Type /

       coverlay = (black)

       overlay = (Boston)

       ccoverlay = (none)

       overlaysym = (Dot);

run;

Thank you for your time.

Nthompson

The statgraph template of the boxplot procedure is long and very complicated.

but i discover that the GTL code is another much easier way to change parameters

of course you have to read the chapter about in the gtl manual
