We are experiencing rogue libraries getting created on saswork area ..... Please find the below list which I see in our saswork area ... I expect to see SAS_util* & SAS_work* .... Why are directories (pvg3gp9f, pvmrjdc1, q8a7yvz2, etc ) getting created ? When we run Base SAS .. these junk directories are not getting created. These directories have something to do with Enterprise Guide. Any idea why we are getting on in SAS 9.3?

Are you having issues with abnormal terminations? If SAS is crashed it doesn't shut down normally  and clean up the temporary work libraries (directories).

When you would run a Web-service with SAS you would see a lot more of weird files not known to base-sas.
For the web-services it is more easy to see the reason. The session information must be kept somewhere and there must be a reference for other related data. This I have seen creating thousands of files (not being cleaned up).
For Eguide 5.1 you can run code in parallel you can have several locations for temp-files (not sas datasets). I am not amazed there is far more than saswork and sasutil. I am more amazed the awareness that this is happening is that low. It is an location where data laekage can happen. Did you set the sticky-bit on the directory and when not why not? What about the umask?
