Hi Friends,

Can anyone please tell me how big data SAs can read or import. (Ex:- Gigabyte, or Terra byte).

If anyone can share a link that would be the awesome.

Many thanks

Regards,

Hi,

Here i have talked only about the SAS datasets not about the data.

1. A SAS dataset stored on a drive that is formatted as FAT16 has a file size limit of 2.1GB

2. A SAS dataset stored on a drive that is formatted as FAT32 has a file size limit of 4 GB

3. A SAS dataset stored on a drive that is stored on NTFS formatted has a file size limit of 2 TB.

Isn't that desktop or server dependent?

You are limited more by your hardware than you are by SAS whether it be gigabyte, terabyte, petabyte...

One other aspect to consider, SAS allows for storing partitioned data files via the use of the SPDE and SPDS, which in turn could allow your SAS table to go beyond the O/S limits!

Example, you can build a SAS table based on multiple partitions where each partition size is 2GB.

So the advice here is not focus solely on the maximum size of a single conventional data set, instead be aware of SAS's full capability.

Hope this helps,

Ahmed
