Hi all,

How can I create a new variable that is the count of other variables?

For example,

DATA TESTTEMP;
INFILE DATALINES TRUNCOVER;
INPUT ID DX1 DX2 DX3 DX4 DX5;
CARDS;
1 8 32 21 24 45
2 8 23 3 , ,
3 23 44 56 3
;
RUN;

PROC PRINT DATA=TESTTEMP;
RUN;

What I am expecting is the output dataset like this

ID     DX1     DX2     DX3     DX4     DX5      NDX
1         8          32       21         24        45         5
2         8           23       3                                   3
3        23          44      56          3                      4

Best,

Liang
