Comparison Of SAS datasets from different platforms

Hi,

How do I compare a SAS dataset produced in mainframes environment with a SAS dataset produced in Linux environment? Can a simple PROC COMPARE do this or Do I need to convert either fo the datasets as teh operating systems are different.

Thanks.

Vijay.

Re: Comparison Of SAS datasets from different platforms

Once you have managed to move the datasets into a common environment with the proper tools (eg proc cport/cimport), the transcoding of characters should be done.

Just run the proc compare and see what happens.

Thanks for the answer Kurt.

Transcoding of Characters should be done......Didn't get what it means. Shoudl something be done before using PROC COMPARE?

Re: Comparison Of SAS datasets from different platforms

Transcoding is what happens when data is moved between platforms with different character sets (eg EBCDIC and ASCII). proc cport/cimport can handle that.
