I have set up a bookmark in IE 9 to take me to

https://communities.sas.com/content

However, when I open the browser and select this bookmark for the first time, it takes me to https://communities.sas.com/communications

The second time I use this bookmark, it takes me to the desired location.

Is there some way to fix this?

I've never seen this happen.  I'll create my bookmark and try to reproduce so that I can provide details to our development team.  More to come....

Hey

Any update on this? It happens every day ... plus ...

Today, I got an e-mail about a reply in a thread I was participating in. I clicked on the link in the e-mail which should have taken me directly to that thread. Instead, it took me to https://communities.sas.com/communications

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Service Pack 1, IE 9

I am embarrassed to say that I have not been able to reproduce your problem nor do I really know where to look. SO, I have turned your problem over to the experts at Jive.  I opened the case today. I'll let you know what I hear from them.

I have noticed a similar problem. When I clicked on the link in my SAS email for this thread, it first took me to communities.sas.com/welcome. When I clicked on the link again it opened another tab and went directly to the thread.

I've had related problems the past few weeks with SAS's website in general. I tried to register for a webinar. The link took me to the webinar registration page but the page loaded with multiple java script errors. Then I tried to log in so it would use my profile for the registration and the login button doesn't work, I assume because of the js errors. Even on this thread page the browser indicates "done, but with errors on page". But it gets even better. If I go to the SAS home page, which appears to be newly redesigned, and click on "login" it just reloads the page but doesn't give me a login screen. It does produce an error:

Message: Unterminated string constant
Line: 1
Char: 102
Code: 0
URI: http://www.sas.com/en_us/home.html

So, to get around this, I use Firefox to log in, because for some reason it seems to be able to get around the issue that IE8 has, and then I paste the link I want to go to for webinar registration or whatever and it then seems to work. Until the next time and I have to do it all over again. This all only started happening in the past few weeks.

Thanks for mentioning this, .

I should add that my company really doesn't allow me to choose what browser I use, it must be IE9. So, I use IE9, not because I want to, but because I have to. Try it in another browser is not an option.

The really interesting thing is that I just had this happen to me for the first time!

The vendor has given us a few places to look and our IT staff will be investigating.  Keep letting us know what your experiences are and I'll keep you posted on progress.

Update:

If I open my browser and am not logged in to sas.com, when I first attempt to go to https://communities.sas.com/content, that's where I wind up.

If I open my browser and I am logged in to sas.com, the first attempt to go to https://communities.sas.com/content takes me to https://communities.sas.com/communications and the second time I attempt to go to https://communities.sas.com/content, that's where I wind up.

I have been experiencing exactly this sort of behavior for quite a while ... actually ever since it became possible to remain logged in. I see this in Firefox and in Chrome ... haven't tried IE. Using Win 7 pro 64 bit up to date.

I aim for: and end up here: Welcome | Communities on SAS. Aim for again and get there. If I don't remain  logged in I get there in one step as expected.

We will be deploying a fix for this between 2-3pm ET on the 25th.  I'll post more details when the fix is in place.

The fix has been deployed. You should notice a difference in behavior after you log out and log back in.

Paige, if you are at SAS Global Forum, come to the community meetup on Tuesday night and we'll have a celebration party!

Thanks again for reporting with such helpful details.

I'm just catching up on some email and noticed a message about this in my SAS updates. It worked great when I logged in just now. Thank you, Renee, for responding so quickly and staying on top of this! Great customer service.
