Importance of Accepted Solutions and Likes

Ever wonder what those green check marks mean by a post? Seems like it’s something you should pay attention to, right?

When you see a green check mark by a post, it means the original poster (OP) found an acceptable solution to their question, and marked it as such. “Accepted  as Solution” is a way for the OP to choose the reply that best answers their question. Only the OP can mark the reply as “Accept as Solution.”

When this happens, both the question and the solution get special icons and links that take the reader directly from the question to the answer.

In fact, during the months of July and August (to date), 50% of the viewed topics have an accepted solution!  So when people have the same question you have, they are far more likely to find the answer that helps if you mark a reply as an Accepted Solution.

What if the response isn’t exactly what I need, but it’s helpful?

We have a designator for that, as well. “Likes” is a content rating system that lets anyone vote for the messages they think are the most useful or important.

Anyone, not just the OP, can give likes. Giving likes to a message is another way of giving a thumbs-up for good content and a pat on the back to its author. Likes help to boost the value of certain messages and enhance the reputation of their authors.

To give a “Like” click on the clapping hands icon in the post.

Now get out there and start marking things. You'll feel good for acknowledging someone's effort and you'll help the overall community.

Good idea to have a post on this. Great to see the stats on the views. I'm also curious to know the percentage of marked solutions and how that has changed over time.

Big "Like"!

Hello @ShelleySessoms,

what if I don't see the button to 'Accept as Solution'?

I would like to mark my topic as resolved, but I don't know how.

It is a German sub-community:

Any ideas on that?

Thanks,

Michael

Hello @mfab,

You discovered one of the main differences between a board and a group. The German sub-community is a private group which does not utilize "Accepted Solutions." It is the way in which our vendor has created certain segments of the community.

I apologize for the confusion; this is not an option within your community.

Thanks for using the communities. I hope they are meeting your expectations.
