How do you find your inputs and outputs for a sas job?

Let’s consider simple program with input dataset and output dataset and report.

SAS Program

* Input dataset: adverse, Output Dataset: ae1;

data data.ae1;

   set data.adverse;

run;

%let rptfldr=&_sasws_/SAS/Study1/Files/output;

* Input Dataset:ae1, output file: report1.rtf;

odsrtf file="&rptfldr/report1.rtf";

  proc contents data=data.ae1;

  run;

odsrtf close;

When the program is executed in the SAS Web Editor, it analyzes the program’s input(s) and output(s) using SCAPROC and captures the input(s) for the execution on the Input tab as shown below.

In the similar fashion it captures the output(s) on the Output tab.

Using this information about the Input(s) and Output(s), one can define the necessary Input(s) and Output(s) needed for the job execution and can capture them in job definition.

Note: For output(s) you only need to specify the folder in which output will be generated.
