data have;

input date order @@;

datalines;

20140831 1 20140731 2 20140630 3

;run;

*1. with order control, I can get the descending order on (date);

proc freq ;

table order*date /list missing ;

run;

*2. without order control, I can not get the descending order on (date);

proc freq ;

table date /list missing ;

run;

I am trying to get a descending ordered display on (date) variable.

My question is:

if I don't have the order variable in the data, is there anyway I can display the proc freq result on (date) in a descending order?

Thanks.
