how to capture the contents of sas titles

Is there a way to capture the contents of titles (e.g., title1, title2) in a macro. I have not seen an example of this. Here is the problem: In macros, I usually create titles to explain the spcialized output that is generated. But the titles created in the macro replace the titles used prior to invoking the macro. My goal is to capture the content of any titles that exist when the macro is invoked, create appropriate new titles within the macro, and then re-create the original titles at the end of the macro. All the steps are easy or obvious, except for the capturing part at the beginning
