Hi,

I am working on a dataset an dit was going fine. Now, as I access my dataset with libname statement and recoding (which was previosuly going fine) I recevie the following error message in log

"A lock is not available for PE.MATCHEDATA_21.DATA". What does it mean?

Someone/something else is using th dataset and you can't access or overwrite it until they're finished.

What SAS interface are you using? It is even possible to do this to yourself in EG by having the dataset open in the data viewer while also running a program/task on the same dataset.
