Please explaine me how sas libname statement is defferent from SAS SQL passthrough statement and why sas sql pass through statement is more efficient than libname statement

For what reason we use sql pass through statement.

Hi Arpit,

f you use the LIBNAME Statement to connect to the database, you can choose either the DATA step or PROC SQL to process data. However, if you choose the Pass-Through Facility to talk with the database, PROC SQL is your only choice.

The Pass-Through Facility enables you to interact with a data source using its native SQL syntax without leaving your SAS session, a definite advantage.
and enables you to send DBMS-specific SQL statements directly to a DBMS for execution.
