Hi,

How can I make a variable to store  a particular date in SAS. My code looks like this but it does not work.

data derived._01_cohort1_esrd ;
	set derived._01_cohort1_codes;
	by enrolid index_date ;
	if first.enrolid ;
	format eos mmddyy10. ;
	eos = '09/30/2017' ;
run ;/*13893 */

It shows error because the format and value of eos variable are of different types - fomrat is numeric and variable is character . How can i save 09/30/2017 as eos value ?
