Hi:
The questions on the Base Programmer Certification exam are taken from the material in Programming 1 and Programming 2 classes. The other books you mention are great books for overall SAS knowledge, however, they do touch on topics not covered on the exam. For example some of the Cody books touch on SAS/Graph or on SAS/STAT procedures and neither of those topics are covered on the Base Programmer exam.

To see the exact topics on the exam, review this web site: http://support.sas.com/certify/creds/bp.html#s1=2 (click Expand All to see the full list).

To get some practice questions and to assess your readiness to take the graded exam, we offer a Practice Exam for the Base Programmer certification exam, which contains questions that are similar to the questions on the graded exam: https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?ctry=us&id=851 OR, you now have the choice to purchase a practice exam through the Pearson VUE company: http://support.sas.com/certify/creds/samples/exams_pv.html (the Base exam is PE-211P)

Another good resource for questions are the Certification Prep Guides. You will find a link to the Base Programmer guide from this page: http://support.sas.com/certify/creds/bp.html#s1=3 and that page also contains a link to some sample questions (not very many).

One advantage of the certification Prep Guide is that it is meant to summarize the material in Programming 1 and Programmer 2 classes and every chapter has questions to practice on that are relevant to that chapter's content.

Most "question dump" sites contain illegally obtained questions or are scams. The only approved practice exams are the two I listed above. When we find "question dump" sites, we report them to our Legal department to take the appropriate action.

We also offer a review class for the Base Programmer exam. It can be found here: https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?id=58&ctry=US and there are 5 offerings on the US schedule between now and the end of October.

Good luck in your studies!

Hi Freddy,

It would be nice if you can share your experience in SAS , and what you have done till now. So that we can give you better suggestion.

Nevertheless, I would recommend you to read some of the books written by Ron Cody. He is one of the authors i have been reading. Then you can test out your skill by giving exams, expect the best. Even the exam preparation guide cannot give the questions that will prepare you for the real thing. So i would suggest you to study the materials out the already then shoot for the exams.

-Hope it helps.
