If you are referring to a XML datatype, it's not supported be SAS/ACCESS, it's not even mentioned in the doc.

You could try to convert it to varchar in a pass-thru view, using XMLCAST (haven't tried it myself though...)

would you please explain to which data base you are passing the SAS code and what data do you need from RDBMS?
