Hi,

We have SAS programs that clean data files and being submitted automatically using a  windows  jobs by calling the SAS.exe /SASV9.CFG (timed batch processing e.g. every 2:00pm daily) .  If we move to the SAS cloud version, will there be option to schedule and submit SAS prog coming from an sftp server?

What do you mean by "SAS cloud version"? Are you talking about a private cloud stored in your own data centre or using a public cloud provider? If this is in your own data centre then no doubt there will be tools available for scheduling. SAS has its own scheduling tool called LSF as well as operating system alternatives.

Hi,

We are not sure yet if it will be  a private cloud stored in our own data centre or using a public cloud provider, we are just looking for our options.

Thanks.

A cloud environment itself doesn't work differently than a standard server. When it comes to communication with the outside world you need to talk to the provider, it shouldn't be a SAS issue, until you more specifically can describe the setup.

Hello,

No I did not mean that the SAS programs are coming from an sftp server. Just to clarify, the files that the SAS program needs is coming from an sftp server (and yes SAS is not handling the movement of these files- download/ saving/ archiving ) .

We don't have an issue with the current process.  We currently schedule  the execution  of the SAS program by using a Windows batch file (.bat)  as described in my original post. All I need to know is, if the SAS server is not going to be on-premise anymore, what changes are needed to our current configuration or what are the options to schedule execution of a SAS base program

Thanks

As i said, a cloud environment doesn't have to be different than a standard one per se.
You need to discuss with the supplier of the new environment and identify gaps/differencies.
Given that you use the same OS there should be no difference in the scheduling capabilities.
