What is the max diff?

Range might be what you're looking for if summarizing all values in a data set (or group of values). Range = maximum value - minimum non missing value.

proc means data=sashelp.class range max min;

class sex;

var height weight;

run;

Shows the range by sex of height and weight in the SAS supplied data set.
