We have a collection of 32-bit SAS/AF applications that we've been planning to redeign. They allow the staff to editing individual records. Circumstances have required that we find the shortest/safest route to support these applications in a 64-bit environment as well as the 32-bit environment.
OUR CURRENT SOLUTION: Port the catalogs to 64-bit and run them in SAS 9.3 in the 64-bit environment. This should allow us to update all of the 32-bit datasets and leave them as 32-bit files. In our preliminary tests, this seems to work well.
QUESTION: Are we missing something? 1.) Is there some pitfall in this approach that we should guard against?; 2.) Is there a better way?
