Convert a formatted numeric column to its corresponding char column

Hello!

I would like to ask a question about column creation:

I 'd like to convert a formatted numeric column to its corresponding character column.

An example:

I have a numeric col1num as :

col1num

1

1

2

2

The format of this column is 1 ->"A", 2 -> "B".

I aim to create through a data step a new column col2char as :

col2char

A

A

B

B

Is there a simple instruction to do this ?

Thanks for help!!!
