Please let me know how to find size of SAS dataset through base SAS code

Untested:

proc sql;
  select libname, memname, filesize
  from sashelp.vtable;
quit;

I don't think the filesize in vtable is accurate, usually, I've queried my OS to get the file listing and extract the size from that. 

 

What is your OS? Can you run an X command, SYSEXEC?

Do you want size in number of bytes the file occupies or the number of records that are in the data set?

 

Proc contents data=<your dataset name goes here>;

run;

 

will tell you number of observations (records) and lots of other information about the dataset.
