SAS Environment Manager Agent (agent.properties) custom.local.ips Option

I have been made aware by SAS support of a new option that exists in the SAS 9.4 M4 SAS Environment Manager Agent.  This option is "custom.local.ips" and is defined in the agent.properties file.  We are considering upgrading to M4 specifically for the functionality of this option (if it work the way we think it does) because we hope that option resolves an issue we have with failover management.  Unfortunately, SAS support has also informed me that there is no documentation for this option.  Is anyone using this option?  I would greatly appreciate any information that I can find on this option before we start the upgrade testing process.
