Hello,
SAS Enterprise Guide is currently installed in WIN 7 (x64) environment. However, we are soon to upgrade WIN 10.
Would the EG installation still work in the new environment? Is there any testing that SAS recommends to do prior to the new windows upgrade? Additionally, would SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office work with Office 365?

Thank you!

Hi @Kamash

Just to clarify some of the information, to avoid any confusion.

The issue related to Windows 10 is now resolved and has a hot fix, cf Problem Note 60323 (Java errors due to the Windows 10 Creators Update might occur when you invoke SAS®)

Regarding SAS Enterprise Guide, it is supported on Win10 if you use version 7.1, cf its System Requirements. Earlier version of SAS Enterprise Guide are not supported on Win10 (cf SAS Enterprise Guide 6.1, System Requirements for instance).

Regarding SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office, all answers are with Installation Note 38120 (Support for SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office in Microsoft Office 2016, 2013, and 2010). In short, it is supported, except in that case "Microsoft Office 365 web applications that are browser-based are not supported".

And VA is accessible from your browser, so it should not matter as long as you use one of the supported ones.

Cheers,

Damo

There's a bug with Java in Windows 10 & SAS right now so I would check if that's been resolved before I updated.

Office 365 is still installed on your computers, you're not using the cloud installations are you?

Thank you Reeza. Could you elaborate on the bug a little more?..Any reference to make sure the bug has been resolved?

On the Office 365, we haven't installed it - goning to be part of the new upgrades. Not using Cloud either. At this point we're trying to figure out what needs to be done so things would get along with the new upgrades.

My understanding is the Java bug only applies if your SAS server / installation is running on Windows 10. That means if you are using EG, you are connecting to SAS also installed on your PC. Here is a link that explains the bug:

If EG is connecting to a remote SAS server, this won't be running Windows 10 so you are probably OK. EG by itself uses .NET not Java.

Good morning,

Not knowing what SAS version you are on, here is some information on Win 10, Office 365 and SAS 9.3/9.4:

Support Status: Windows 10

  • SAS 9.3 is not supported on Windows 10.
  • SAS® 9.4 M3 and higher is supported on Windows 10.
  • Supported browsers include Internet Explorer 11, Chrome, and Firefox.
The Microsoft Edge browser is not supported at this time!

Office 365

SAS 9.3 clients can be used with Office 365, if Office 365 is installed on Win 7 or 8 or
any other SAS 9.3 supported OS environment.
For details on all the Windows flavors in SAS 9.3, please check: http://support.sas.com/supportos/list?requestAction=summary&outputView=sasrelease&sasrelease=9.3&pla...

Office 365 on Windows 2010 is not supported by SAS 9.3.

If you remain on your current Windows release and install Office 365, you will have to upgrade your
SAS clients to the newest version. For your environment that means that all clients have to be updated.

Some new clients are backwards compatible, which means, even tho they are developed and
released with SAS 9.4, they are also available in SAS 9.3.

So, as you can see, a lot has to do with which version of SAS you are on.

Thanks

Anja

Thanks Anja. SAS Version 9.4.3 should be good with the new upgrades then.Smiley Happy

Anja, we also have SAS Visual Analytics (v 7.3) installed. Do you know if it's gonna be okay with the new updates? Thanks!
