Good day verybody,

We have SAS 9.3 installed on a Win 7 64 bit PC and are trying to uninstall it using SAS Deployment Manager.

The problem appears soon as you click NEXT on the "Select SAS Products to Uninstall" screen.  The process does not complete after this (The PC is doing something but the process does not go forward as indicated in the SAS documentation - see attached screen dump). You can go back and stop the process but it does not complete the uninstall.  This PC had a full configuration for EM and RD installed and this was removed via deployment manager without problems. All the required hotfixes were also installed as precribe by SAS. No other SAS processes or SAS servers are running as far as we can determine.

We have asked SAS Support for help and they indicated the only way to unistall it, is to delete it via the registery and windows explorer. We are reluctant to use this metod but will use it if there is no other answer.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks

Just a thought - does your organisation have an automated process for PC software builds? If so it might be easier to get rid of the problem by rebuilding the PC from scratch by re-installing the operating system and required applications.

Good morning,

Thank you for the reply.  We have a process like that but we only will go this route as a final solution.  We need to know why SAS Deploymnet manager is doing this.

Kind regards

Thys

Examine your security issues with read/write access to your installation folders.

SAS Tech Support was confounded by the security lock-down(s) we had @MyCompany.

And I agree with SASKiwi: rebuild is faster, especially given the alternative of editing the Registry.

oh, did I mention Pending Reboot?

that was another "Who flipped That bit?" item that confounds (un)installers.
