Hi,

I have a question concerning SAS promotes in DI Studio (Jobs, tables for raw/odd/staging/mart layers, external files etc.

Can anyone tell me if it is beter practice to include the folder structure when creating the SAS packages so that when the package is imported SAS automatically creates the required folders in the new enviroment (test to production)

Or alternativley would it be better to manually create the folders in production using the right click mouse option and naming them manually?

Many thanks for any advice on this.

Regards,

Hi @Jason1,

when you export the metadat objects, they will come with the metadata folder structure automatically. I would leave as much automated actions as possible and try to minimize the manual actions, as best practice.

Only if your code will create new metadata on some folders which are not included when you export the metadata, you will need to include those extra folders in your package. So, still, everything will be automated for you.
