Hi All,

Is there a way to track the SAS usage from a defined SAS metadata User ID?

Thanks

You need to define "SAS Usage", and in terms of how/where.

A good starting point is to see what Environment Manager offers.

A part from that, there are possibilities to activate specific logging in each application, like in VA/LASR, OLAP Server...

This is not exactly an answer, but audit tracking is a start.  See Gerry's excellent blog posts for more info: http://blogs.sas.com/content/sgf/2016/09/29/how-to-protect-your-audit-trail-in-a-sas-environment/

Hi,

what information are you looking for exacly when you are referring to "SAS usage"?

Are you referring to metadata usage as in accessing tables, libs, folders, application servers etc ..?

Are you looking for general ways to track what your users are doing with respect to (example): user A

uses xyz amount of work or temp space, whereas user B only uses x amount; or, user A and B are

connecting to the SAS server x the most?

Please provide more details so we can help you find the answer you are looking for!

Thanks

Anja

Hi Anja,

Thanks for the reply!!

I am looking for a way to track the usage of SAS applications of a metadata defined user id. Like (example) usage of sas id with SAS application connections, usage of same id with SAS scheduled batch jobs and also work , temp spaces.

I am aware the same is possible with SAS Environment Manager , but the same APL loggining is eanbled from SAS EVM 2.4 and we are currently using a version of 2.3 and upgrading it to 2.5 is expected to take time. Hence curious in finding other ways to track the same.
