Tell how you've used SAS to have a positive impact on your community.
In 2024, we created the "Women Analytics" ("Mulheres Analytics" in portuguese) project, a pioneering initiative to provide SAS EG training specifically for women in the banking sector. Using the SAS OnDemand for Academics platform and SAS EG software, the initiative aimed to equip women with highly targeted skills for the banking market, expanding their data analysis abilities, and increasing their career advancement opportunities.
The "Women Analytics" project used the SAS EG software to empower women and promote gender equality in the banking sector. By providing specific and practical training, participants acquired essential skills in data analysis, enabling them to overcome professional barriers and reach new career opportunities. The positive impact was evident, with more than a thousand women benefiting from the training and a significant increase in participant promotions, showing that the project effectively reduced gender inequality in the banking technology field.
What SAS products are you using and how are you using them?
We utilized two main SAS products:
1. SAS OnDemand for Academics: This platform was crucial in creating an accessible and customizable learning infrastructure. It allowed us to base our training on a realistic and interactive environment.
2. SAS Enterprise Guide (EG): The SAS EG software, with its point-and-click interface, facilitated the transfer of theoretical knowledge to practical use. The participants could develop complete data analysis projects using synthetic databases similar to those encountered in the banking market.
What was your most surprising discovery about your work?
One of the most surprising discoveries was the positive impact of the flexible training format. The video lessons available on YouTube allowed women from all over Brazil to participate without compromising their professional or personal routines, giving them the freedom to manage their own careers. Additionally, we found that about 25% of participants who developed final projects were promoted (according to feedback from the participants themselves), demonstrating the effectiveness of the training and the confidence gained in their new skills.
Results Achieved
Participants: The project had national reach, with women from all 27 Brazilian states completing the training.
Promotions: About 25% of the participants who completed projects were promoted in their fields, with positive feedback highlighting their skills in SAS EG acquired through the training.
Flexibility and Inclusion: The online and flexible format of the course allowed women to complete their training regardless of their daily responsibilities, with the freedom to do so in the manner each one deemed ideal.
