Basically there is a specific SAS Deployment Manager task for updating any persisted passwords. Typically the sas install user and sasdemo are not persisted, but sassrv is. The menus will show you what passwords are relevant in your particular environment.

Can you confirm if access to the VA app directly on both the backends works without a 404 (I'm curious if the 404 is coming from the upstream server, or the reverse proxy directly)

You can get the info from LevX/Web/WebServer/conf/sas.conf - Check ProxyPass for the /SASVisualAnalytics entry, see what balancer it refers to, go to that section and you'll

see listed BalancerMembers for the backend, with an explicit port like 8080 or 8180

It will redirect you to the logon, you can't use the app directly this way but you can at least confirm the backend isn't impacted.

I would open a Tech Support track and they can help, I would also review and attach the logs from the webserver, and relevant web app servers.

Vault is one of the first things configured, I think what you're encountering is a proxy error, not really a Vault issue. Have you configured a proxy server on the OS? Did you include all the hostnames as directed in the no_proxy list?

Seems like the root cause - can you confirm the user executing the code (so your user, or the spawner identity for stored process / pooled workspace server) can see the contents of that file?

it depends on what the file is - certainly anything covered in the manual steps

In addition to listing the files and metadata profiles that were updated, the ChangeHostName_date-and-time.html report provides instructions for steps to be performed manually."

from the doc link above, is safe. Other files might represent something that was supposed to have been fixed by the changehost tool and didn't match for whatever reason (no short hostname given, the domain didn't match, not using all hosts in the environment on each machine, etc) - and you may need other things besides those loose files fixed. I'd open a tech support track with what you're seeing to get a definitive answer for any specific cases.

Perform DNS lookup

For a given host machine, different files and metadata in your deployment might contain different forms of the host name, including the fully qualified name, the short name, and the IP address. If you are cloning one or more servers to a new machine, then you can select Perform DNS lookup option, which accesses the Domain Name System to determine all of the forms of each host name.

If the name of an existing host machine (or network domain name) has changed, then you must deselect Perform DNS lookup. The Domain Name System does not contain information about machine names or network domains that no longer exist.

Don't edit the WAR directly in the webapps directory (both for security concern, and the fact it would be lost if the webapp were ever rebuilt or re-deployed - which happens as part of a hotfix or update. Content edited there is also not available when you're using a clustered midtier)

Is the doc chapter for JMS Broker. The primary consumers are the web application servers, you can search for "brokerURL" in the various LevX/Web/WebAppServer/SASServer*/conf/server.xml files to see the reference. It's used to sync queues and topics across multiple JVMs.

multiple managed servers means the applications are divided into multiple web application servers, running in different JVMs on different ports. There is still only ever 1 copy of each.

You would have

SASServer1_1

SASServer2_1

SASServer12_1

(which numbered servers you have, varies based on what products you have installed)

Horizontal clustering means you have more than one machine hosting middle tiers (which from your description sounds like a no).

You do have multiple copies - just not on the same machine

So midtier #1 would look like

SASServer1_1

SASServer2_1

SASServer12_1

And midtier #2 would also have

SASServer1_1

SASServer2_1

SASServer12_1

Vertical clustering means you have multiple copies of a server on a single host,

eg,

SASServer1_1

SASServer1_2

SASServer2_1

SASServer12_2

The best file to check is LevX/Web/WebServer/conf/sas.conf

It will list every application, and what server(s) are serving it.

So when you search for "BalancerMember", you will find various proxy stanzas, and in a non clustered deployment, each stanza will only have one member, in a clustered setup, you would find multiple balancer members per each proxy.

This looks like what we called multiple managed servers - but it is not a vertical cluster. If you have multiple machines, it's possible there are horizontally clustered components.

Seems like a classpath issue - can you give more details about what you mean by copying the jar into your project? Did you add it to your build path as an external jar? You could test to see if you can "open" the MVADriver type (ctrl + shift + t, does eclipse recognize it as a valid class)
