How do I upgrade IP's from basic Sku to Standar Sku?

Hi all, our client currently have a Basic Sku, which has a vulnerable jump box, we would like to upgrade the public IP's by upgrading the jump box to Standard sku, according to the documentation, it must be upgraded before 30 September, when the basic sku will be retired:

So, we should redeploy SAS Viya to get available updates?

We are currently developing and testing the upgrade process to transition from Basic SKU to Standard SKU for public IPs in SAS Viya on Microsoft Azure. Our goal is to ensure a smooth and secure migration ahead of the September 30 deadline. We'll share more detailed guidance as soon as it's available. Thanks for your patience and engagement!

Hey @Patrick , Thank you for your suggestion. I have contacted the support team a couple of times, but they have informed me that for this specific issue, the communication channel is limited to communities portal. 😕

This fix was published at the Microsoft deadline on deployment of new environments. Microsoft does not offer a mechanism to apply patch updates to deployed applications, which limits our ability to make incremental changes post-deployment.

Hi @Conor_H , Thank you for your reply. I see that ‘What's New in SAS® Viya® on Microsoft Azure’ was updated today. I understand that if I need to use the standard SKU public IP addresses, I must make a new deployment, ¿correct?.

On another hand, do you know if Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse is integrated into the new version? The customer is interested in both using SKU public IP addresses and being able to access their data through Microsoft Fabric. According to the documentation, this will be available from 2025.06, but we would like to confirm. Do you know anything about this, or should I start a new post about it?

For simplicity, SAS treats the Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse as a SQL Server endpoint. Microsoft provides this endpoint—known as the SQL analytics endpoint or TDS endpoint—as part of Fabric to enable compatibility with third-party applications.

SAS leverages this endpoint using existing SQL Server drivers (e.g., ODBC Driver 18 or later), allowing SAS to connect and query data in Fabric without requiring custom connectors. This approach aligns with Microsoft’s design, which exposes the Fabric Data Warehouse through a Tabular Data Stream (TDS) protocol, the same protocol used by SQL Server.

This means SAS can interact with Fabric in much the same way it does with traditional SQL Server databases, simplifying integration and reducing the need for specialized configuration. However, it’s important to note that Fabric’s SQL analytics endpoint is currently read-only, and writing data into OneLake may require alternative methods such as REST API calls or using supported file formats like Parquet.
