Need recommendation - what course should I go for?

Hi,

I work in TCS BPO, in Market Research Domain, and I am looking for a SAS program which can help me enhance my skills. But I am not sure which course would help me as I am fairly new to SAS programming. Please help anyone...

Have you taken the first two free e courses? I would probably start there.

Then it depends on how you want to learn. You can progress with structured learning and I would recommend the Programming 2 & 3 course. If you're an analytical marketer you can also look at the business analytics course or courses under the data science program that will be applicable. Do you have SAS Enterprise Miner?

If you learn independently You can pick a topic and then read a bunch of papers from lexjansen.com

The Little SAS book is a great resource and desktop guide for you as well.

No, I havent even started on SAS yet, I wish to do it in near future and am trying to determine where to start from. I will surely start from the free e-cources.. thanks for the headsup. And I am looking for e-learning courses as I cannot deviate from my job, also since I work in a BPO my shift timings keep changing. Do you think e-learning courses have benifits?

can you please also tell me what is SAS enterprise miner?? I have no idea what that means. 😞

It depends on how you learn. I find the methods to be a personal preference so you need to know how you learn and employ that mechanism.

Enterprise Miner is the SAS product for data mining. It's used for quite advanced statistical modelling, and I think it requires some basic statistical education.

Do you have SAS at your current workplace? If so, what SAS modules/products? And how are they used?

Like @Reeza I suggest start with the free programming e-course. You could of could build on with Programming 2 & 3, but perhaps only if you are amused by programming itself.

Many people in your filed/profile uses Enterprise Guide as query and reporting tool, perhaps look into that if you are more comfortable with GUI rather than raw programming.

Thanks for the help. 🙂

I am a BSc Statistics graduate, and I have the basic stats knowledge. However I do not have SAS at my current workplace, I work in a Client end project where we sort of assemble the datapoints and build view reports for client. Its more of a reporting process, so there is no hardcore analytical skills to be applied. however I will for sure look into the Enterprise Guide if that suits me.

Marketing can get into some high end analytics. I would recommend SAS programming if you want to venture into SAS, you're more versatile as an analyst if you have it under your belt IMO.
