topic Forecasting in Statistical Procedures

Hi,

I am very new to forecasting and was wondering if someone could give me some initial guidance.

I have to develop a forecasting model taking into account seasonal variations and also special days like public holidays (e.g. a decrease on the day and an increase the day after public holiday).

Could you please suggest what SAS procedures (+options) are capable of addressing these issues? Could i do it with PROC ESM?

Could you also suggest any useful articles or other written materials?

And finally, is it possible to develop a model which would allow a user to change some model parameters? For example, adding one or more functional units.

Thanks a lot

Victoria
