Start your #SASGF social plans

With SAS Global Forum (#SASGF) quickly approaching, many of us are starting to plan our travel and conference schedules.

So why not also start your social plans? That’s right; being active on social media, particularly on Twitter, is a great way to be part of the SAS community.

To kick off, all you need to do is set up a Twitter handle and start following and sharing. If you don’t have a Twitter handle (or don’t know what one is), check out this 18 Practical Twitter Tips for Beginners blog post.

Once you have a Twitter handle (and have changed the default egg profile picture ), start following tweeps (people’s peeps on Twitter). Some suggestions are:

@SASsoftware
@SAS_Cares
@SASanalytics
SAS office Twitter handles such as @sas_anz for SAS Australia and New Zealand. Hint: use the followers and following list on SASsoftware to see who else to follow.

Also, you may want to check out some popular SAS-related hashtags such as #SASGF, #SAS, #SASusers, #SAStip, #SASAdmin, #SASCertified, #SASInsights, #SASPartners, #SASprofs.

I like following online on #twitter and attending the twitter meet up known as a #tweetup. It is a relaxing way to have conversations with other users.

Following online on twitter is a good way of keeping up with SAS blogs and other Internet articles about SAS. Usually the #hashtags will be used in tweets sharing links to these types of articles. Searching out the hashtags is a good way of finding articles. Maybe it's just me while twitter is not spam free these hash tags are fairly low noise and spam free in my experience.

Agree @ptimusk hashtag searching is a great way to filter and find content. I also find Twitter a great resource to get the latest information - news sites, tv etc are usually delayed and not as current as Twitter feeds.
