Can you post a screen shot that illustrates the issue? I see no issues sorting on a column that has been ranked.

Please try this:

Right-click the label "Transfer Institution."

On the menu, select Remove All Sorting.

Right-click the label "Transfer Institution" again.

On the menu, select Sort Ascending (or Descending) by First Year Transfer.

I think that the rank automatically applies a sort, so that any subsequent sorts are secondary sorts. Glad that removing all sorting worked!
